We are seeking volunteer Board Members!

Kawartha Gymnastics is located in Peterborough, ON and is a non-profit leader in gymnastics programming. We provide a range of high-quality programming for all ages including weekly classes, movie nights, birthday parties, camps, and special events. We host an annual Invitational Meet which brings over 500 athletes from across Ontario to Peterborough, and is a volunteer run event.

In 2021, we are celebrating 50 years in business and are excited to announce after a long search we will be moving into a new facility in May. This new facility is nearly twice in size and will allow us to expand our programming and equipment so we can meet the demand for classes.

Kawartha Gymnastics is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors of up to twelve members. Currently, the Board is looking to fill vacancies with an anticipated commencement date in March 2021 and is soliciting applications. The Board is specifically looking for the following skills:

• Legal
• IT
• Human Resources
• Public Relations
• Advocacy

Is this for you?

To qualify, you must be over 18 years old and live or work in the Peterborough region. Prior experience is a plus.

Amy Gerolamy

President

Amy has been involved in the sport of gymnastics since age two.  She was a former competitive gymnast, coach and judge has worked at 4 different clubs over her years in the sport from Ottawa to Niagara Falls.  Amy has been a member of our club since 2011. In 2018 Amy officially retired from her role as a coach to join the Board of Directors.  Amy has a passion for athletics of all kinds and has a Physical Education Honors Degree from Brock University.  She is currently a grade 2 teacher with the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland Clarington Catholic District School Board. 

Chantelle Clarke

VICE President

Chantelle Clarke is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP©) with a passion for fostering growth, both in her role as a financial planner and through her commitment to youth development at Kawartha Gymnastics. With nearly two decades of experience in the financial industry, Chantelle provides personalized fianncial strategies and comprehensive wealth management solutions to individuals, businesses and families in the Kawartha Lakes region.

Chantelle has been an active supporter of Kawartha Gymnastics for many years. Both of her children enjoyed participating in gymnastics and cheer programing at the club, and today as older teens they are both members of the coaching staff. Chantelle believes that gymnastics, much like financial planning, requires discipline, balance and a strong foundation. Her involvement with the club is driven by her desire to give back to the community and help children develop skills such as perseverance, teamwork and self-confidence. 

Chelsea Didone

TREASURER

Chelsea was born and raised in Peterborough.  She is a chartered professional accountant (CPA) with over 4 years of public accounting experience serving for-profit and not-for-profit clients.  Chelsea is a manager with Baker Tilly KDN LLP in Peterborough and obtained a master of accountancy (MACC) degree from Brock University before obtaining her CPA designation in November 2019.  She is a former competitive gymnast and was a member of the Brock University Cheerleading Tam for two seasons spanning 2013-2015. 

Chantal Wood

SECRETARY

Chantal works in Human Resources at Kawartha Pine Ridge District School board and brings her knowledge and experience in Human Resources to Kawartha Gymnastics' Board of Directors. With years of involvement in gymnastics alongside her daughters, she's thrilled to lend her expertise to the organization in this new capacity. 

Heather Brand

Director

Heather Brand is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CGA) with over a decade of experience in diverse sectors, including for-profit, not-for-profit, and healthcare. Currently serving as a Manager at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), Heather brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record in financial management, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. Heather is a dedicated mother whose daughters are proud athletes on Electric City Cheer elite competitive teams, where she also acts as team mom. Her personal involvement in KG underscores her commitment to community and youth development. 

Vince Bierworth

Director

Vince is very aware that he is not on this board of directors because of his understanding of Gymnastics. Although, he does have a daughter who enjoys it very much. Vince is currently the Executive Director for the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation (GPHSF), a Not-For-Profit Foundation that raises and distributes money to support local health care projects, often in conjunction with the Peterborough Family Health Team. Previous to this, Vince spent 15 years working in Peterborough area media, primarily in Radio.  It is this experience in the Not For Profit sector, and the years of promotion, event management, and fundraising, that he brings to Kawartha Gymnastics. One day he hopes to be able to attempt a cartwheel.

Brenda Foster

Director

Brenda is a Peterborough native, recently retired from Kawartha Pine Ridge DSB. Brenda has a long history of gymnastics involvement including former competitor, coach and judge. This is an exciting time to be involved with Kawartha Gymnastics and Brenda is happy to offer her experience and help wherever needed. 

Diane Gunsolus

DIRECTOR

Diane Gunsolus is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has worked in the childcare industry since 2012, doing private home childcare for 3 years. She is married to Micheal Gunsolus who is a partner at Ayotte Dupuis O’Neil Law Office. She has two children, Madelynn, who is currently a coach at Kawartha Gymnastics, and William, who is in the Advanced Recreational Program.
